Causes of sexual Harassment Frankly speaking, the men have often been accused of sexual harassment in our society. This does not mean that women can not harass their male counterparts sexually. However, the accusation of men in sexual harassment may be true if one considers the outcome of researchers that men have greater capacity to be aroused erotically and genetopelvically than women in terms of sexuality. The mere sight of women by a man may arouse him sexually depending on the appearance of the women. Sexually harassment may, therefore, result from a kind of display or exhibition of some parts of the body a girl or women for a man to see. For example, a women who undress without doing so secretly, or under lighted but unshaded window may be sighted by men around and this may eventually lead to sexual harassment. This is to say that, at times, women who claim to be sexually harassed by men can also be guilty of the same offence because they deliberately or unwittingly, create a necessary condition for sexual harassment. Laziness may get people involved in sexual harassment particularly when students and other members of the society go round to solicit for money, grades or some kind of favour instead of working very hard to achieve things which they desire. A beautiful girl who request for money or some kind of favour from a man, may eventually have to pay for what she gets. For example, when a man buys pants for a women, the man may one day like to see how well the pants fit the women. WHO IS TO BE BLAMED FOR SEXUAL HARASSMENT? The question of blame has always been raised by many people in the society when discussing cases of sexual harassment. Generally, one would like to conclude that the whole society is to blame but specifically, the people involved are to be blamed for the act of immortality. Sometimes in offices, institutions, and the society at large, difficult rules or regulations may be laid down by superiors to be followed by subordinates as a kind of trap to get the subordinates victimised sexually, such as supervision of female students at odd hours by lectures and threas in various froms regarding failure in examinations. There could be denial of promotions and other opportunities. Sometimes, subordinates may intentionally be delayed in the office by superiors after normal closing hours just to have their way. Some people who would want to get themselves satisfied sexually may use this crude and cruel method which at times may result into rape.
